Having an eco-friendly Christmas is a great way to kickstart your journey to living a ‘greener lifestyle’. If we all did our bit to conserve and preserve the Earth’s precious (and finite!) natural resources and habitats the world would be a much better place! Millions of Brits are set to have a ‘second hand Christmas’ this year to be more eco-friendly. However, I’m on a mission to encourage people to shop small and support small businesses as well!

Three-quarters of Brits are worried about climate change and the UK is the 15th most eco-conscious country. It is also the fourth most environmentally friendly. Not bad – but there is still a way to go to combat climate change! The good news is that environmental awareness amongst UK consumers has surged in the past year with 85% now making more sustainable lifestyle choices, according to Deloitte’s latest Sustainable Consumer research.
Being vegan, going plastic-free and buying eco-friendly products are all great ways to be kinder to our Planet.
Making simple changes this Christmas doesn’t take much effort. But, it can make a real difference to our Planet!

So, here are a few suggestions to help you enjoy a more eco-friendly Christmas:
- Buy a cut or living Christmas tree, decorate it with sustainable decorations then recycle it
- Switch to reusable crackers
- Minimise food waste by shopping locally and only buying what you need
- Use recyclable and/or recycled wrapping paper
- Sustainable gifting will help avoid presents ending up in landfills!
